For our project we are looking for advice on the Tripath TA2020 or TA2040 based Class-D amplifier chip. (Note that Tripath went tits as a business for some time, but the charges of their chips are still available. Tripath called implementation of the architecture of D “Class T”, which clouded the water a bit, but basically they were incredibly good class D chips, which covered a wide range of energy needs.) Both chips are quite similar, but takes a little more power TA2020.

The mods. From what I’ve seen in the low cost of the class D, PCB, other than the Tripath chip components are usually the first to be spared. Depending on where you source your board, you should pay attention to.

Solen capacitors
These devices offer brines in France damn good performance and not break the bank. Over three dollars each.

WIMA film poly
These capacitors are very beautiful and if you do not want to do with muck around with different types and by comparing the sound, they are a good choice. About 50 cents per song

Jantzen
These come from Finland and another large hi-fi type. About $ 2 a piece.

Auricap
Now start the crazy part of the price scale to meet. Auricap is an excellent product, but a pair of these will cost about 34 dollars.

V-Cap PMOI
V-Cap PMOI series (oil impregnated metallized polypropylene) film capacitors. If it caps are more expensive than this, I have not found her.

Caps Brand X shit
So this is what we avoid, regardless of manufacturer electrolysis good advice on the front of the circuit to connect.

The central question of this project was: Does the sound change some parts better on Tripath TA2024 camp? The answer is a definite YES!. The input connector Jantzen sounded the best of any I’ve tried and a big improvement over the stock Wimas. I am not saying all the right words to know in order to use audiophile, but it has a warmer and brighter at the same time. The extra sockets seemed to really help in large transients, like a big change in the dynamics of weak to strong. The board inventory seemed to sag a little in this area. Other capsules Bank seems resolved that, although it may only have made, my diet of low quality.

For the part of the construction, it took a long time. Create a custom case is not trivial: the handling of the end plates and pierce it right some tests. The wooden base mounted not as a machine “frame” turn very convenient and easy, so I can play with this new concept.

Finally, there are many excellent Tripath-based audio amplifier out there in the world. With a little work, but you can turn an amp that sounds in amp sounds even greater!

This is a do-it-yourself DIY version of the response time ProAc 2.5, which is one of the most famous of the speaker in his class of about 1996 to 2003. This model was replaced by a new model in 2003 called the reaction D25 replaced by units of the pilot was, but always in the same way two floostanding concept. 2.5 The response is considered one of the most successful and famous ProAc and is a testament to the skill and the expression of their ProAc designer Stewart Tyler.

It may be one of the widest range of conventional 2-way speaker cone floor of his classroom and is always a good speaker, even by today’s standards investigation. There is a design manual bass-reflex “with a good, Scan Speak drivers. Drivers are used in the DIY audio project, can not Scan Speak best drivers, but it is integrated into a very special way to get the best sound possible. The original ProAc response time 2.5 sound is very musical, smooth, uniform, melodic, rich and with a very low armor (for height).

What are the dynamics in May micro extreme detail in the midrange and treble are missing, it is only because of the noise are also many large and complex not to speakers. The response time is 2.5 ProAc project, such as sound or better, depending on your choice of intersections. Try it and you will not be disappointed.

Office of coating 3 to 5 mm or depreciation of the burden of bitumen bulk of the board, from 30 to 50 mm polyester (Dacron 200g/m2 density) filling / packing. Coatings and depreciation is recorded on all sides except the front. It is important not to specify or too low, so that the quantity and density of the coating is to use a balanced voice of the speaker. This can affect the sound more than other, more expensive and the crossing of the mentioned components (capacitors and inductors). More companies will lead to serious adverse lint and forced more than voting and Medium Express. If you can not find the density or thickness, close to the estimate of the liner.

Cabinet interior volume is 34 liters, after the wall is depreciation added. However, up to 38 liters in deeper bass extension have been reported. Changes in the size of the company for what should be done by increasing the depth and maintenance of the forward bulkhead of the same size 225mm.

Install the base of 25 mm and 20 mm thick, at the confluence of all sides on issues that improved stability and low.

Subwoofers are specialized in sound frequency, which lower, such as bass.

The design of a subwoofer is important to always have the best sound quality. While you can buy a subwoofer, and install it in your sub, the housing may not be as good as you can design be acquired. Several variable factors in the creation of a forum for high-quality sub – the material used, the volume of the housing, and even the length-width makes a difference. Several programs are available to help you find your own housing.

Use the Subwoofer Design Toolbox, in the resources section to help you improve your wardrobe. Once you have the program, you will need to enter all known parameters – this type of subwoofer you have, how much it works best in, how much space you need to place the subwoofer. After you are finished, the program will put the numbers through a formula to arrive at a subwoofer, with a few sketches. In February 2011, the program will cost to buy $ 29.95 (plus tax).

Go AJ Audio in the field of resource and download AJ Audio Subwoofer Design Software. The program is freeware, which means you can download and use it as many times as you want without paying for it. The program includes three different design of the case: bandwidth, sealed and vented. Choose the design you prefer, the input specifications of the subwoofer. The program runs the numbers again and to shape the ideal forum.

Head to Sisteca and download Box Designer Gold Edition, a free software, 3D CAD drawings to help you make your own subwoofer. To use the program, the input quantities are you, and to reproduce the program is a 3D model of your case. You can rotate images, the model to see how they are viewed from any angle, as well as customize it for your own needs.

The project PCM2704 USB DAC sound card is fully functional for the PC sound card. The main advantage of using PCM2704 PCM2702 is against the construction much easier. As seen from the diagram that he in 5V and 3.3V voltage regulator, HID interface (MUTE, VOL +, VOL-), S / PDIF output. Joined see The circuit can be directly from the USB port power. Next advantage is that the DAC output can directly drive 32 Ohm headphones, but the performance is only 12mW. For full details please refer to the PCM2704 datasheet.

The program is very simple. It is almost a copy of the chart sheet. You can see the core IC PCM2704 (U1), the crystal with documents (X1, C1, C2, R1), the connection to the USB port (USB port, R2, R3, R4, L1), a large number of blocking capacitors for all voltages (C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8), head of the S / PDIF output (J1), HID-header (J2), the output of the filter (R5, C11, R6, C12, R7, R8), coupling capacitors (C9, C10) and the output 3.5 mm jack connector (J3).

I designed my own PCB. The dimensions of the PCB 55x18mm, 73x18mm is including a USB port, and Jack. Were used to adjust the size as small as possible size 0805 capacitors and resistors. The L1 ferrite bead to reduce high-frequency hum. Litle experience with soldering iron and it is possible to PCB assembly by hand.

Build PCM2704 USB DAC Sound Card for Windows Circuit Diagram

I built two of these pieces sound card. I tested the sound card under Windows XP and Windows Vista and it works without problems. I wanted this device for my internet radio receiver, which I will use the draft to build published on mightyOhm.com. The receiver is on Asus WL-520gU wireless router with OpenWRT Linux distribution. The sound card works under Linux also stop and start but the sound playing at regular intervals (the period varies from minutes to 1 hour). I think it’s the driver problem (if anybody has an idea how to fix it, I’m very grateful).

You might ask, why build this sound card when you can buy a similar device for a few dollars. I also have a sound card in China, which cost about $ 5, but the sound quality is very poor, so that the main difference is the sound quality.
